Disney Plus mobile app exceeds $ 1.5 billion in global consumer spending

When Disney launched its subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) mobile application Disney + in November 2019, it generated nearly $ 100 million in gross revenue in its first two months alone. The platform’s continued success has now propelled it beyond $ 1.5 billion in consumer spending on mobile.

According to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data, Disney + topped $ 1 billion in global gross revenue in April 2021, and the SVOD platform recorded its highest mobile spending in a single month in July, when app revenue was 204% higher. to the amount generated during the month of its launch.

Since launching in 2019, Disney + has entered a number of new markets, leading its mobile app to hit the $ 1.5 billion mark. Disney + ‘s mobile app has now reached around 246.7 million installs since its inception and adoption continues to climb year on year. In the first half of 2021, the app saw more than 64 million installs, up 28% year-over-year from nearly 50 million a year earlier.

The app recorded its highest total of installs for the first time in a single month in November 2020, reaching 24.5 million worldwide. The increase in adoption this month was driven by the service’s roll-out in South American markets such as Brazil and Argentina.
