Chief Minister MK Stalin unveiled on Saturday E-Vaadagai, a smartphone app that would allow farmers to register for farm machinery and tools to rent them, as well as the distribution of agricultural machinery and implements with government grants.
The Chief Minister announced a number of agriculture-related initiatives, including the payment of a transitional productivity incentive of 150.9 crore and a special incentive to 91,120 farmers who supplied cane at the sugar factories.
In addition to the fair and remunerative price of 2,707.5 per tonne announced by the Center, farmers would benefit from a cane price incentive of 192.5 per tonne. According to an official announcement, “the chief minister gave the directives to five sugar cane producers as a pledge to the Secretariat”.
Recently the government of Tamil Nadu announced the TN Pongal Gift Program 2022 for the needy. As part of this program, the government of Tamilnadu will distribute Pongal gift baskets to 2.15 million rice card users and Sri Lankan Tamils in rehabilitation centers. Raw rice, cashews, raisins, cardamom and other products will be included in every Pongal gift basket. There will be no monetary component in the basket this year.
Gift baskets will be delivered to fair-priced stores by January 14, 2022 as part of the Tamilnadu government’s Pongal 2022 gift program. The state government has set up Rs. 1,088 crore for the implementation of the gift basket program for PDS card holders. The gift baskets would also be delivered to all Sri Lankan Tamils living in refugee camps, according to a GO issued in this regard.
Pongal is a sweet dish prepared from the ingredients provided in the TN Pongal gift basket program. This Pongal gift is for families with 2.15 crore in the state who have a PDS ration card. The state government is reportedly spending Rs. 1,088 crore on Pongal gifts.
