CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Mocs soccer team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Sunday for an evening game against No. 11 Alabama at the Alabama Soccer Complex.

CHATTANOOGA vs. ALABAMA
This will be the ninth meeting between the two programs dating back to 2001. The Tide leads the series 6-1-1. The Mocs’ only win came in 2004 behind all-time leading scorer Diana Jallo, who scored both goals for UTC in a 2-1 victory. She was named to the Soccer Buzz National Team of the Week. The Mocs came away with a 1-1 draw in double overtime in 2019 at Chattanooga.

The teams were scoreless at halftime. The Crimson Tide would find the net in the 58e minute and retain the Mocs for the next 20 minutes of play. Samantha Shawtaking a pass from Bailey Gale and AK Andersontied the game with Alabama in the 78e minute. saddler abbey made three saves in the game to secure the draw. Alabama outshot Chattanooga 16-4, but only managed four shots on goal in the game.
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (2-2-2)
After starting the season with back-to-back losses, Chattanooga went undefeated in its last four games at 2-0-2. UTC defeated Austin Peay 3-0 and North Alabama 2-1 while finishing in a 1-1 draw at Georgia State and Tennessee Tech. The Mocs’ final scheduled game on Sunday, September 1 against Belmont at home has been canceled due to inclement weather.
Freshmen Clarissa Salinas and Caroline Richvalsky lead the Mocs to the score. Salinas leads the team in goals and points and is tied for assists with Richvalsky who is second on the team in points. Another freshman Caroline Ekern is undefeated in goal with a 2-0-2 record in her four starts.
ABOUT ALABAMA (7-1-1, 1-0 SEC)
The Tide entered the Top 25 in the rankings after a win over No. 18 Clemson at the end of August. Since then, Alabama has recorded victories over the #6 BYU on the road, tied unranked Utah and recorded three straight wins, including a 2-0 victory over fifth-place South Carolina to start the SEC game.
Riley Parker Mattingly has scored seven goals in seven starts and leads the team with 15 points. Felicia Knox has a team record seven assists and 11 points while playing in nine games with eight starts. Five different Tide players have recorded game winners with Parker Mattingly leading the team with three. McKinley Crone started all nine games in net for Alabama. She has four shutouts and combined on a fifth. She made 25 saves (.833 sv%) and allowed just five goals for a 0.59 goals-against average.
