NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Parts of central Tennessee saw more than an inch of rain with heavy thunderstorms this morning. As usual with this small amount of rain, some areas experienced minor flooding.

With a first day weather alert in place for Wednesday, further flooding is possible.

Check out this video from the Richland Creek area this morning. It shows the area near the creek this morning facing this flood. The river briefly entered the minor flood stage when the heavy rains arrived.

Looking at river levels across the region. Most of our streams are well within their banks this afternoon. However, a few may return to the minor flood phase with our next round of heavy rain on Wednesday.

We are again under a first day weather alert on Wednesday as more storms are brewing.

Damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes and other flooding are possible.

While we’re dry the rest of the day today, check that your storm drains and gutters are clear of debris so everything can drain properly.
