STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced that its âTolls NYâ mobile app has reached one million downloads since its launch in 2020.
The app that helps customers manage toll bill payments, view history, and update EZ pass accounts on their phones has collected $ 70 million in toll payments since its launch.
The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) also honored the free smartphone app with a Toll Excellence Award for customer service and marketing awareness.
âThis application is the result of a true collaboration between MTA Bridges and Tunnels, our industry partners and, more importantly, our customers,â said Daniel DeCrescenzo, Jr., president of MTA Bridges and Tunnels. “I would like to thank our customers for helping us reach one million downloads, and IBTTA for recognizing our efforts with the Toll Excellence Award.”
“With over a million downloads and more, the Tolls NY app is already improving the customer experience for drivers traveling in one of the country’s busiest metropolitan areas,” said Mark Compton, CEO of Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and President of IBTTA. âMTA Bridges and Tunnels and its partners in this project deserve to be recognized for creating this app with so much customer feedback beforehand, which has created a new tool that benefits both users and operators of toll. “
MTA Bridges and Tunnels has sent over three million alerts through the app to notify customers of policy updates, such as toll rate changes. The app allows drivers using rental cars to bypass complicated middlemen and interact directly to pay their tolls at a fair rate.
The Tolls app allows customers to manage E-ZPass accounts, allowing them to check their account balance, add funds and / or set up automatic payments, update the E-ZPassaccount profile, including including vehicle information, to pay toll bills by mail quickly and easily even before receiving an invoice and to view toll and payment history.
The app also offers how-to videos and contact information for customer service centers, and can leave feedback for app developers.
Tolls NY is part of a larger effort by MTA to bring user-friendly digital solutions, along with the OMNY tap-and-go system in subways and buses and TrainTime apps on Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road.
IPhone users can download the free app through the Apple app Shop and Android users can download it through the Google Play store. The Tolls NY app is also available to clients of Port Authority of NY & NJ and NYS Thruway.
