Back January 6, digital board game Pandemic was removed from Steam at the request of publisher Asmodee Digital. Turns out it wasn’t a fluke and it’s been permanently removed from other platforms as well. Through a Reddit thread, Asmodee support said that Pandemic has been removed from the Google Play and App Store platforms, and it will be removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop “by the end of July 2022”. However, those who have already purchased the game will be able to re-download it.
Asmodeus support only vaguely discussed why Pandemic is removed from the Switch eShop and other platforms: “We have worked hard for 4 years on Pandemic and removing it from stores was not an easy choice. This decision was made with a heavy heart for a multitude of reasons that we cannot disclose. »
You may have noticed that we are currently living through a true pandemic, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to wonder if that influenced the decision to remove this board game. In any case, if you’ve ever wanted to play a digital board game version of the miserable thing we’re currently stuck with, now is the time to grab it from the eShop. The original physical board game is apparently very good and influential.
