DETROIT – Welcome Wednesday!
Computer models nailed their prediction of the storms that developed in the Thumb on Tuesday, but did not correctly represent the continuous line of strong to severe storms that developed west of there. I’ll explain it in more detail below, but I’ll leave you with this: the real-time radar of our free Local4Casters weather app will help you always stay informed. You can download it from your app store.
Okay, let’s get started.
Tuesday’s storms were triggered by a cold front advancing down the state, and that front has now moved south into the region, introducing a cooler, less humid air mass. Wednesday will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny, with comfortable humidity and highs in the 70’s. A northerly wind moving at 5-10 mph will keep things a bit cooler near the Lake Huron shore.
Sunset today is at 9:03 p.m.
The weather will be generally clear on Wednesday evening, with super comfortable lows in the mid-1950s.
More rain possible
Thursday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs near 80 degrees. Clouds will increase Thursday evening with a possible downpour or thunderstorm late overnight. The milder lows will be lower to mid-60s in the 60s.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday morning, but their coverage is likely to decrease during the afternoon. The maximums will be close to 80 degrees.
From rain to sun this weekend
Saturday might start out partly cloudy, so plan your gardening or other outdoor activities for the morning hours as there is a risk of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon. Some models suggest scattered activity, while others generate more extensive rains. Either way, the chances of rain will increase during the afternoon. The peaks will be in the mid-80s.
Showers and thunderstorms on Saturday evening are expected to end around dawn on Sunday, with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies developing for the day. The vertices will be close to 90 degrees.
It looks like the hot weather could linger until next week – stay tuned.
Why do you need the Local4Casters weather app
You’ve heard me say our app is the best weather app in the country before, and here’s why: we designed it ourselves here at Local 4, while most other stations buy a generic weather app from a company.
Our digital team upstairs has been working hard to integrate information from the weather office, and we have an app that not only has a real-time radar that shows the progress of storms, but it also has a lightning page ( some apps don’t even have lightning bolts). And best of all, if you’ve turned notifications on, you’ll get alerts like this when dangerous weather approaches, not to mention warnings when they’re issued:
The bottom line here is that the Local4Casters weather app gives you the information you need to stay ahead of dangerous weather conditions. Those who have our app are usually not surprised by the weather changes.
And the app follows you wherever you go: if you travel, it accompanies you and gives you the weather forecast wherever you are, even in Europe!
Just search for your app store under WDIV and it’s right there, available for iPhones and Androids! Or click on the appropriate link below.
